UPSRTC to Operate 350 Free Shuttle Buses for Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj
The Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) is set to enhance transportation facilities during the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj with the introduction of 350 new shuttle buses. These buses, adorned with the Maha Kumbh logo, aim to provide free rides to pilgrims during the main bathing festivals.
Key Features of the Shuttle Service
- Free Rides for Pilgrims:
- 350 shuttle buses to provide free transportation for pilgrims during the main bathing days.
- Additional support with 200 electric buses operating as urban transport shuttle services.
- Supervised Operations:
- A dedicated team of 22 officers to oversee operations and ensure smooth management.
- Quick response teams equipped with interceptor vehicles, enforcement officers, and technical experts deployed on seven key routes leading to Prayagraj.
Infrastructure and Management
- Temporary Bus Stations:
- Eight temporary bus stations set up in the ‘mela’ area to facilitate seamless transport.
- Each station will have:
- Officers from headquarters on duty.
- Retired officers working as consultants.
- Temporary workshops for bus maintenance.
Comprehensive Transport Plan
- Phase-Wise Operations:
- In the initial phase, UPSRTC will operate 2,000 buses.
- During peak bathing festivals, over 7,000 buses will be deployed:
- 6,800 general-category buses.
- 200 air-conditioned buses.
