Effective July 22 to August 19, passengers will face increased fares due to new route diversions for Kanwar Yatra 2024.
Fare Increase Across Routes
The Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) has announced an increase in bus fares for the month of Sawan, in response to route diversions implemented for the Kanwar Yatra. This fare adjustment will be in effect from July 22 to August 19.
- Ordinary Bus Fare: Increased by ₹12
- Janrath AC Bus Fare: Increased by ₹30
Route Changes Due to Kanwar Yatra
Due to the Kanwar Yatra, buses traveling from Civil Lines Depot to various destinations will experience altered routes:
- Gorakhpur, Azamgarh, Jaunpur, and Varanasi: Buses will bypass Shastri Bridge and travel through Sahson and Phaphamau.
- Varanasi-bound Buses: Will pass through Hanumanganj after Sahson.
- Gorakhpur-bound Buses: Will travel via Jaunpur and Azamgarh.
Temporary Measure
Assistant Regional Manager (ARM) Jai Karan Prasad from the Civil Lines Depot confirmed that this fare increase is a temporary measure tied to the route diversions. The standard fare structure will resume after August 19.
Implications for Passengers
Passengers are advised to be aware of the fare changes and plan their travel accordingly. The temporary route diversions are expected to cause some inconvenience but are necessary to accommodate the Kanwar Yatra 2024.
