UP Govt to Launch Courier and Parcel Service via UPSRTC Buses

UP government is launching a new courier and parcel service via UPSRTC buses, in partnership with AVG Logistics Ltd. The service will use 11,000 buses and is set to begin by September 2024.

The Uttar Pradesh government, led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, is set to introduce a new courier and parcel service through the Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation UPSRTC buses. This initiative aims to enhance logistics and parcel delivery across the state using the extensive UPSRTC bus network.

Agreement Signed for New Service

  • Partnership: A five-year agreement has been signed between UPSRTC and M/s AVG Logistics Ltd. Delhi.
  • Infrastructure: The necessary infrastructure is expected to be established by September 9, 2024.
  • Service Scope: The service will be available on both ordinary and AC buses operated by UPSRTC.

Service Coverage and Implementation

  • Bus Utilization: Approximately 11,000 UPSRTC buses, including both ordinary and AC, will be utilized for the courier and parcel service.
  • High-Volume Regions: Key areas anticipated to see significant activity include Agra, Ghaziabad, Meerut, Saharanpur, Aligarh, Moradabad, Bareilly, Hardoi, Etawah, and Jhansi.

Operational Guidelines

  • Compliance and Inspections: Transport Minister Dayashankar Singh has emphasized the importance of 100% compliance with contract provisions.
    • Ticket and Luggage Inspection: Traffic supervisors/inspectors will check both passenger tickets and parcels.
    • Anti-Illegal Booking Measures: Strict actions will be taken against any conductors involved in illegal parcel bookings.
  • Parcel Booking Process:
    • Designated Stops: Buses will make stops at designated stations for parcel booking and receipt collection.
    • Space Allocation: Reserved space on buses will be used for parcels, while the remaining will accommodate passengers’ luggage.

Ensuring Service Integrity

  • Parcel Handling: Assistant Regional Managers are tasked with ensuring that all parcels are processed through the official courier service and not loaded unauthorizedly.
  • Monitoring: The responsibility for overseeing parcel bookings and compliance lies with the Assistant Regional Managers.

This new service is expected to significantly improve parcel logistics and customer convenience across Uttar Pradesh, leveraging the existing UPSRTC bus network to provide a reliable and efficient solution.
