Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) announces the allocation of 132 electric buses to the Warangal region. This move aligns with the state government's commitment to reducing pollution caused by diesel vehicles and provides residents with eco-friendly travel options.

The TSRTC officials of the Warangal region recently conducted a meeting to strategize the implementation of electric buses. Profitable routes have been identified, and preparations are underway to introduce these environmentally friendly vehicles. As part of the initiative, fast-charging points will be established at bus depots, ensuring efficient operation and reduced downtime. To fulfill the procurement of electric buses, the TSRTC has entrusted Olectra Greentech, an Indian bus manufacturer. K Srilatha, the Regional Manager, stated that the first phase will see the introduction of 132 electric buses equipped with state-of-the-art facilities. The TSRTC has already successfully launched electric bus services between Hyderabad and Vijayawada, further reinforcing its commitment to sustainable transportation.

The upcoming electric AC buses will be 12 meters in length, accommodating 41 seats, and capable of covering more than 325 kilometers on a single charge. Passenger safety is of paramount importance, and the buses will be equipped with panic buttons and vehicle tracking systems for enhanced security. Additionally, a minimum of three CCTV cameras will be installed on each bus, storing one month’s worth of footage, which will be connected to the TSRTC control room.

These electric buses will offer a range of high-end features to ensure passenger comfort and convenience. Reverse parking assistance cameras, LED boards displaying destination details, mobile charging ports, individual lamps at every seat, a Fire Detection Suppression System (FDSS) to prevent fire accidents, and public address systems for passenger information are among the amenities included.

The introduction of 132 electric buses in the Warangal region marks a significant milestone in the TSRTC’s efforts to provide sustainable and eco-friendly transportation solutions. This initiative not only reduces carbon emissions and noise pollution but also enhances the overall commuting experience for the residents of Warangal City. The TSRTC remains committed to implementing innovative strategies and technologies to promote greener and more efficient public transportation systems in Telangana.
