In a recent update, TSRTC Managing Director, VC Sajjanar, emphasizes the importance of original identity cards for the ‘Maha Lakshmi’ free bus travel scheme. Here are the key details and guidelines:
TSRTC New Guidelines for Maha Lakshmi Scheme
- Women must carry original identity cards for the Maha Lakshmi scheme.
- New guidelines were established due to pressure from some women passengers using cell phones or Xerox copies.
- The photo and address of the passenger should be visible on the identity card.
- Any original identity card issued by the Central and State governments is applicable for the scheme.
Exclusions and Ticket Payments
- PAN cards without an address are not valid for free travel under the scheme.
- Women passengers are instructed to take a zero ticket for free travel.
- If passengers lack an original identity card, they must pay for the ticket; it is not free.
- A fine of Rs. 500 will be imposed for traveling without a ticket.
Maha Lakshmi Scheme Applicability
- The ‘Maha Lakshmi’ scheme is applicable only to women of Telangana.
- Women from other states have to pay a fee and purchase a ticket; the scheme is not applicable to them.
Government Reimbursement for Maha Lakshmi Scheme
- The government will reimburse the money to TSRTC based on the issuance of zero tickets.
- Warning issued against arguing with staff and attempting to travel without a ticket.
As the TSRTC refines the guidelines for the ‘Maha Lakshmi’ scheme, passengers are urged to adhere to the specified rules to ensure a smooth and fair implementation of this initiative.
