Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC), known for its commitment to innovation, is expanding its advanced vehicle tracking system (VTS) beyond metro express buses. After successfully implementing the tracking system in nearly 900 metro express buses, TSRTC now plans to introduce it in city ordinary buses, further enhancing the convenience and reliability of bus travel. The VTS provides real-time updates on the Expected Time of Arrival (ETA) for bus services, empowering passengers to plan their journeys effectively. With this tracking system, passengers can stay informed about the arrival and departure times of buses at various stops across Telangana and neighboring states where TSRTC services are available. By eliminating unwanted waiting time, travelers can make the most of their day and reach their destinations promptly.
A senior TSRTC official highlighted the benefits of the tracking system, stating,
“The tracking system will keep passengers informed about the arrival and departure of buses at various stops across Telangana and nearby states. Using this system, passengers can plan their travel and avoid unwanted waiting time at the bus stops and stations.”
As part of a pilot project, TSRTC has equipped over 4,000 buses, including AC Pushpak buses of Cantonment and Miyapur-2 depots operating to Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) in Shamshabad, with the ‘TSRTC Bus Tracking’ system. Additionally, 100 long-distance buses from Miyapur-1 and Picket depots, serving routes such as Srisailam, Vijayawada, Eluru, Bhadrachalam, Bengaluru, and Visakhapatnam, have also been equipped with this technology.
The next phase of implementation will focus on extending the vehicle tracking system to all reservation services and special types of services in both the district and Hyderabad City. TSRTC aims to ensure that passengers can benefit from the convenience of real-time tracking across its entire fleet, making bus travel more efficient and hassle-free.
