These buses, named ‘e-Garuda,’ are part of the corporation’s plan to introduce 50 electric AC buses on this route. The remaining buses will be gradually added in phases, with the full fleet expected to be operational by the end of 2023.
The introduction of e-Garuda buses not only promises a comfortable travel experience but also aims to promote environmental benefits. As per the TSRTC’s plan, an electric AC bus will be available every 20 minutes on the Hyderabad-Vijayawada route, ensuring frequent and convenient transportation options for commuters. Looking ahead, the TSRTC has ambitious plans to introduce 1,860 new electric buses over the next two years. Out of this total, 1,300 buses will be deployed within Hyderabad city, while another 550 buses will be allocated to serve distant areas. In addition to these electric buses, the TSRTC has also announced its intention to introduce 10 double-decker buses in Hyderabad in the near future, further enhancing the public transportation network in the city. The inauguration of the e-Garuda buses will be held at the Pushpak bus point near Miyapur X Roads on Tuesday, with Transport Minister Puvvada Ajay Kumar gracing the event as the chief guest.
