TSRTC Addresses Fare Issues with Cashless Payments
Introduction of i-TIMs:
- TSRTC is introducing new Intelligent Ticket Issuing Machines (i-TIMs) to facilitate cashless payments.
- These machines support online payments via UPI, debit, and credit cards.
- This initiative addresses the common problem of passengers not having the exact change for tickets.
Current Testing and Future Implementation:
- i-TIMs are currently being tested on buses running routes such as Bandlaguda and Dilsukhnagar.
- City buses will adopt this system next month.
- Rural buses across the state will follow in September.
- Each i-TIM device costs ₹9,200 plus GST.
Smart Cards for Women Passengers
Increase in Female Passengers:
- Following the ‘Mahalakshmi’ scheme, there has been a notable increase in female passengers on TSRTC buses.
- Currently, conductors issue zero-fare tickets to women who present their Aadhaar cards.
Introduction of Smart Cards:
- TSRTC will soon issue smart cards to women passengers.
- These smart cards can be swiped to obtain zero-fare tickets for bus journeys.
Benefits of the New Initiatives
- Convenience: Passengers can pay the exact fare instantly, eliminating the need for exact change.
- Efficiency: Conductors will no longer need to note owed change on the back of tickets.
- Safety and Security: Cashless payments reduce the risks associated with carrying cash.
- Empowerment: Smart cards will streamline the process for women, making travel more convenient and efficient.
Stay tuned for more updates on these initiatives as TSRTC continues to enhance the travel experience for its passengers.
