In a significant development, the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) expanded its fleet by adding 50 new buses, marking a move towards enhanced services and improved connectivity. The launch event, attended by Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar, Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi, Hyderabad Police Commissioner K. Sreenivasa Reddy, Transport Commissioner Jyoti Buddha Prakash, and TSRTC Managing Director VC Sajjanar, celebrated the introduction of these new vehicles.

TSRTC 50 New Buses Key Highlights

  • 50 New Buses: The latest additions include a mix of AC, non-AC, and Rajdhani buses, offering passengers varied travel options. The launch ceremony featured the flagging off of these buses at NTR Marg, and officials took a ride in the new vehicles.
  • Future Expansion Plans: The TSRTC has ambitious plans to further strengthen its fleet. By the end of January 2024, more AC, non-AC, and Rajdhani buses are slated for introduction, providing commuters with additional choices and ensuring smoother transportation.
  • Palle Velugu Growth: In a commitment to enhancing rural connectivity, TSRTC plans to introduce more Palle Velugu buses by June 2024. This initiative aims to reach remote areas and facilitate convenient and accessible transportation services.
  • Employee Welfare: Minister Ponnam Prabhakar assured attention to the welfare and protection of TSRTC employees. Pending benefits such as PF and CCS will be expedited, contributing to the well-being of the corporation’s workforce.
  • Mahalakshmi Scheme Success: The Minister highlighted the success of the recently introduced Mahalakshmi scheme, revealing that within just 20 days of its launch, approximately 6 crore women availed free travel, emphasizing its positive impact on women commuters.
  • Electric Fleet Expansion: As part of the broader plan to promote sustainable and eco-friendly transport, the TSRTC is actively procuring an additional 1,000 electric buses. These electric buses will primarily serve rural areas, contributing to the reduction of the carbon footprint.
  • Quality Services and Increased Occupancy: TSRTC Managing Director VC Sajjanar emphasized the corporation’s commitment to providing quality services. The Occupancy Rate (OR), which previously stood at 69%, has significantly risen to 88%, with some depots achieving full occupancy.

The developments underscore TSRTC’s dedication to enhancing public transportation, ensuring accessibility, and embracing sustainable and modern transport solutions for the benefit of the public.
