Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) launches 22 new Electric Green Metro Express non-AC buses in Hyderabad. Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu, Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar, and R&B Minister Komati Reddy Venkat Reddy flagged the new vehicles.
TSRTC Eco-Friendly Initiative
- This is the first time eco-friendly Electric non-AC buses have been introduced in the state.
- The Mahalakshmi scheme applies to these buses, promoting sustainable transportation.
TSRTC Electric Metro Buses Features and Capacity
- The buses are 12 meters long and can accommodate 35 passengers.
- They offer a travel range of up to 225 km on a single charge and require 3 to 4 hours for full charging.
Existing E-Mobility Initiatives
- TSRTC has operated 40 AC e-buses from various locations in Hyderabad to RGI Airport since March 2019, serving around 5000 passengers daily.
- The corporation signed an agreement with M/s. Evey Trans (TEL) P Ltd. will deploy 50 12M Intra-city AC eBuses on the GCC Model for 12 years.
Future Plans
- Currently, 10 e-Garuda buses are operational on the Hyderabad-Vijayawada route, and 25 Green Metro Luxury AC eBuses are in operation on the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport and IT corridor routes.
- TSRTC plans to introduce the remaining 450 buses by August 2024, further enhancing its e-mobility offerings in Hyderabad.
The introduction of 22 Electric Green Metro Express buses by TSRTC signifies a significant step towards sustainable urban transport in Hyderabad.
