The TNSTC is set to operate 1,515 extra buses across Tamil Nadu this weekend for the Milad-un-Nabi holiday, ensuring ample transport options for travelers.

In anticipation of the Milad-un-Nabi holiday and the increased passenger traffic over the weekend, the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC) is set to introduce 1,515 special TNSTC buses across the state. This initiative aims to accommodate the rush at various bus termini from Friday to Saturday.

Key Highlights:

  • Extra Bus Services:
    • 955 Special Buses will operate from the Kalaignar Centenary Bus Terminus (KCBT) in Kilambakkam, Chennai, heading to major cities like Madurai, Tiruchy, Coimbatore, Salem, and Tirunelveli.
    • An additional 190 buses will depart from Koyambedu, while 20 buses will leave from Madhavaram for destinations such as Tiruvannamalai, Nagapattinam, Velankanni, Hosur, and Bengaluru.
    • Around 350 more buses will be dispatched from Coimbatore, Tirupur, and Erode.
  • Travel Demand Management:
    • The transport department anticipates a surge in passengers returning to Chennai and Bengaluru from Sunday to Tuesday, prompting further adjustments to bus services based on real-time demand.
