In anticipation of the reopening of schools on June 7, the Kumbakonam division of the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC) has announced plans to operate 400 special buses. The TNSTC Kumbakonam division aims to facilitate the safe and convenient transportation of students and their families to various destinations across Tamil Nadu. According to a press release issued by TNSTC Kumbakonam, these special buses will primarily operate between Chennai and towns such as Trichy, Thanjavur, Kumbakonam, Vedaranyam, Pattukkottai, Nagapattinam, Mayiladuthurai, and Pudukottai. Around 250 buses have been allocated specifically for the services connecting Chennai with the towns falling under the jurisdiction of the Kumbakonam division.
Additionally, approximately 150 special buses will be deployed from Trichy, Thanjavur, Velankanni, and Karaikudi to Coimbatore, Madurai, and Tiruppur in other TNSTC divisions on June 4 and 5. These services aim to cater to the travel needs of individuals returning to their respective native places following the summer vacation period. To ensure the smooth operation of these special bus services, TNSTC officials have made arrangements to appoint adequate crew members and ticket examiners. Their presence will help maintain order and assist passengers throughout their journeys.
