The Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC) Kumbakonam division has introduced special TNSTC bus services to accommodate increased passenger traffic during the auspicious Purattasi month. With an emphasis on religious travel, especially on Saturdays, these buses aim to provide seamless transportation across major routes.
Key Routes and Services
TNSTC will operate 510 special buses across critical routes, including:
- Tiruchi
- Kumbakonam
- Thanjavur
- Pattukottai
- Nagapattinam
- Tiruvarur
- Mayiladuthurai
- Vedaranyam
- Thiruthuraipoondi
- Pudukottai
- Karaikudi
- Ramanathapuram
- Chennai
Additionally, 175 buses will run between Tiruchi and Coimbatore, Tiruppur, and Madurai.
Special Dates and Routes
- September 20, 21, and 22 (Friday, Saturday, Sunday): Special services from Tiruchi to various destinations, including Karaikudi, Pudukottai, Thanjavur, Nagapattinam, and Velankanni.
- September 22 and 23: 200 special buses for return journeys to Chennai, along with 150 buses for other routes.
Online Booking and Extra Services
Passengers are encouraged to book tickets in advance to avoid travel disruptions. Bookings can be made through the AbhiBus official website or via the AbhiBus mobile app.
Monitoring and Staffing
To ensure smooth operations, TNSTC will deploy special officers, inspectors, and additional staff at major bus stations. R. Ponmudi, Managing Director of TNSTC Kumbakonam, confirmed that extra buses would be added based on demand.
