TNSTC Christmas Special Buses for Holidays
The Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC) has rolled out a special bus service plan to cater to increased passenger demand during the Christmas and New Year holidays. Starting December 20, these buses will provide additional travel options across the state, ensuring smooth travel for residents heading to their hometowns and other destinations.
Key Highlights of the TNSTC Christmas Special Services
- Special Buses from Chennai:
- 625 special buses to operate from Chennai to major destinations.
- 325 buses departing from Kilambakkam, covering cities such as Madurai, Trichy, Coimbatore, Salem, and Tirunelveli.
- 280 buses departing from Koyambedu over three days, serving Tiruvannamalai, Nagapattinam, Velankanni, Hosur, and Bengaluru.
- Statewide Services:
- 200 additional buses to operate from Coimbatore, Tirupur, and Erode.
- Special buses planned for hill stations, including Nilgiris, Kodaikanal, and Yercaud.
New Routes and Enhancements
- Direct Routes to Yercaud:
- For the first time, TNSTC introduces direct bus connectivity to Yercaud from Chennai and Madurai.
- Previously, passengers had to travel via Salem, adding extra travel time.
- Improved Travel Experience:
- Managers deployed at Kilambakkam terminus to handle anticipated crowds.
- Streamlined schedules to manage the holiday rush effectively.
Surge in Ticket Bookings
- Increased Online Bookings:
- 34,600 passengers have already booked tickets online.
- A 15% rise in bookings compared to regular figures.
- Reason for the Surge:
- Cancellation of train services between Tambaram and Rameswaram has led many passengers to opt for TNSTC’s bus services.
