TGSRTC has introduced new bus routes and services in Hyderabad's IT Corridor to ease traffic congestion and provide better transportation options for software employees and daily commuters.

To address the growing traffic congestion in Hyderabad’s IT Corridor, the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) has implemented several new bus routes over the past six months. This initiative aims to provide better transportation options for software employees and other commuters in the area.

TGSRTC Extensive Surveys and Route Planning

  • Surveys Conducted: Extensive surveys were carried out at metro stations, bus stations, and workplaces in the western corridor to understand travel patterns, demand, and requirements.
  • Route Introduction: Based on the survey results, TGSRTC introduced multiple important bus routes in the IT Corridor.

TGSRTC Key Bus Routes

  • Miyapur to Narsingi: One of the most popular routes, operating every 15 minutes, serves software employees residing in Miyapur, BHEL, Hafeezpet, and surrounding areas, facilitating their commute to Gachibowli and Narsingi.
  • Bachupally and Pragathi Nagar: Recognising commuter potential, more buses were added on routes connecting these areas with the IT Corridor.

Air-Conditioned Bus Services

  • New AC Routes: In response to continuous demand, TGSRTC introduced air-conditioned bus services on routes such as:
    • Bachupally to Waverock via JNTU and Mindspace
    • Mehdipatnam to Gopanpally via Nanakramguda and Wipro

Challenges and Solutions

  • Competition: The main challenge in these regions is user preference, with TGSRTC facing competition from cabs, auto-rickshaws, metro, and bike rental agencies.
  • Commuter Behavior: Commuters often choose the next available transport instead of waiting for a bus.

Introduction of Cyber Liners

  • Cyber Liners: To enhance last-mile connectivity, TGSRTC introduced ‘Cyber Liners’ (mini buses) to serve the newly-opened US consulate from Raidurg metro station.
  • Vajra AC Mini Buses: These buses also link Raidurg station to DLF, Waverock, and GAR, improving accessibility for employees in the IT Corridor.

TGSRTC’s proactive measures in introducing new bus routes and services in Hyderabad’s IT Corridor aim to ease traffic congestion and provide reliable transportation options for daily commuters. This initiative not only enhances connectivity but also promotes the use of public transportation in the city.
