After a seven-year hiatus, the Rajasthan State Road Transport Corporation (RSRTC) is set to revive rural RSRTC bus services across the state. Under the Lok Parivahan Sewa initiative, the corporation plans to connect 5,000 gram panchayats through a phased approach.
Key Highlights of RSRTC’s Rural Bus Service Plan:
- Phased Connectivity: RSRTC aims to connect rural areas in phases, starting with over 300 routes in the first phase.
- Route Surveys: Depot managers have been instructed to conduct route surveys to identify areas lacking connectivity.
- Focus on Uncovered Areas: Nearly 50% of Rajasthan’s gram panchayats are already connected, and the focus is on linking the rest.
- No Arbitrary Route Changes: RSRTC chief managers have been advised against making unplanned changes to existing bus routes.
This initiative, announced in the state’s Budget, will enhance accessibility for rural communities and strengthen public transport infrastructure across Rajasthan.
