The Rajasthan State Road Transport Corporation (RSRTC) is gearing up to enhance its fleet with 250 new buses featuring Bharat Series (BS) 6-engine technology. Scheduled to hit National Capital Region (NCR) routes from January 1, this move aligns with the government’s commitment to reducing vehicular emissions and enhancing public transport services.
Key Highlights of RSRTC BS-6 Buses
- BS-6 Engine Technology: The 250 buses are equipped with BS-6 engines, ensuring reduced pollution and compliance with stringent emission norms.
- NCR Routes Enhancement: Currently, 304 buses operate on NCR routes, and the addition of these 250 BS-6 buses will contribute to a cleaner and more efficient public transportation system.
- Inter-Depot Reshuffling: To maximize the use of BS-6 buses, RSRTC plans to reshuffle buses within depots across the state, ensuring comprehensive coverage on NCR routes.
- All India Permits: RSRTC is obtaining All India Permits for its buses, enabling them to enter the NCR, further improving connectivity and accessibility.
- Tenders for New Buses: The corporation has invited tenders for the purchase of 340 new buses, all featuring BS-6 technology, emphasizing its commitment to modernizing the fleet.
- Contract Buses: The process is underway to bring in 400 buses on a contract basis, with the first lot expected to join the RSRTC fleet by mid-January, addressing the shortfall on NCR routes.
- BS-6 Compliance: BS-6 emission standards are crucial for controlling air pollution, and the move aligns with the government mandate that all vehicles sold after April 2020 must adhere to these norms.
With these strategic initiatives, RSRTC aims to enhance the quality of public transportation, reduce environmental impact, and provide a sustainable solution for commuters in the NCR region.
