The Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) plans to enhance passenger service on Mumbai to Pune buses by appointing hostesses, launching health clinics, and expanding its fleet.

To enhance passenger service on the busy Mumbai-Pune route, the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) has announced the introduction of ‘Shivneri Sundari’ hostesses on its e-Shivneri buses. The decision was made during a recent board of directors meeting by MSRTC Chairman Bharat Gogawale.

Key Highlights

  • Shivneri Sundari Hostesses: To improve passenger comfort and experience on the popular Mumbai-Pune route, MSRTC will appoint hostesses on e-Shivneri buses. These hostesses will assist passengers without any extra charges on ticket fares.
  • Healthcare Initiative: In memory of the late Anand Dighe, MSRTC will open “Anand Arogya Kendra” clinics at 343 bus stations across the state. These clinics will offer passengers and local residents affordable health tests, medications, and more under one roof.

Infrastructure Development

  • New ST Depots: MSRTC plans to construct new ST depots in Mul (Chandrapur district) and Dharni (Amravati district), catering to tribal communities. This expansion brings the total number of ST depots to 253 across Maharashtra.
  • Support for Women Entrepreneurs: Each ST depot will allocate a 10×10 stall for local women’s self-help groups to sell their products. This initiative aims to support rural women entrepreneurs by offering them affordable spaces on a rotational basis.

Fleet Expansion and Modernization

  • New Bus Acquisitions: MSRTC will start the tender process to acquire 2,500 new buses, further boosting the corporation’s fleet.
  • Diesel to Electric Bus Conversion: A pilot project was approved to convert 100 diesel buses into electric buses, signifying MSRTC’s commitment to greener transportation.

No Additional Costs

MSRTC Chairman Bharat Gogawale emphasized that none of these improvements would lead to fare hikes, ensuring affordable travel for all passengers. The organization is committed to serving the public with enhanced services without financial burden.

Passengers traveling between Mumbai and Pune can look forward to better services and comfort with the introduction of ‘Shivneri Sundari’ hostesses, while the health and community development initiatives promise to bring added value to locals across Maharashtra.
