The Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) continues its green journey with the introduction of eight electric buses, aptly named ‘e-Shivaee,’ on the Pune-Kolhapur route. This eco-friendly initiative aims to promote sustainable transportation and enhance connectivity between these two cities.

Expanding the Electric Fleet

MSRTC’s commitment to eco-conscious travel takes a leap forward with the introduction of eight ‘e-Shivaee’ electric buses on the Pune-Kolhapur route:

Current Operations:

  • Swargate to Kolhapur: Four e-Shivaee buses will operate from Swargate to Kolhapur, offering increased convenience to passengers traveling in this direction.
  • Kolhapur to Swargate: Simultaneously, four e-Shivaee buses will ply from Kolhapur to Swargate, facilitating comfortable journeys for commuters.

Enhanced Connectivity:

  • Increased Trips: These electric buses will conduct a total of 16 trips between Pune and Kolhapur in a single day, significantly improving connectivity between the cities.

Current Timings:

  • Swargate to Kolhapur: e-Shivaee buses from Swargate to Kolhapur will depart at various times throughout the day, starting from 5 a.m. and continuing until 7.30 p.m.
  • Kolhapur to Swargate: For travelers heading from Kolhapur to Swargate, e-Shivaee buses will operate between 5 a.m. and 7.30 p.m.

Future Expansion:

  • Additional Buses: The MSRTC plans to introduce four more e-Shivaee buses on this route soon, bringing the total fleet to 12 buses. Adjusted timings may be implemented after the new additions.

A Sustainable Transport Revolution:

  • Wider Reach: Beyond the Pune-Kolhapur route, the MSRTC aims to expand its e-Shivaee services to various cities across Maharashtra in future phases.
  • Previous Initiatives: The e-Shivaee bus service was initiated by the MSRTC in 2019, with the first phase commencing on the Pune-Ahmednagar route in June 2022. It has since been extended to Pune-Mumbai, Nashik, and Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar routes.

The MSRTC’s ongoing commitment to electric buses not only promotes sustainable travel but also aligns with its broader mission to provide efficient and eco-friendly transportation options to the people of Maharashtra. With the expansion of the e-Shivaee fleet, the MSRTC is fostering a greener and more connected future for the state’s commuters.
