Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) is taking a significant stride towards sustainable and eco-friendly public transportation with the addition of 10 new electric Shivai buses to its fleet. The buses have recently arrived at the MSRTC headquarters in Pune, marking the second phase of the electric Shivai bus initiative.
While the specific routes and stations for these new buses are yet to be finalized, their arrival has generated great anticipation among the public. The first bus from the second phase arrived on April 24, initiating the expansion of the electric Shivai bus fleet. This initial bus will operate on the Pune-Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar route. Furthermore, the administration has expressed its intentions to introduce more buses in the near future, further promoting sustainable transportation solutions.
“These newly arrived buses will be integrated into the MSRTC fleet after successfully completing all necessary formalities at the Regional Transport Office (RTO),” said Transport Officer Kailas Patil to Pune Pulse.
The electric Shivai buses boast an impressive range, capable of covering 300 kilometers on a single charge. Designed with passenger comfort and safety in mind, these buses are equipped with modern amenities. The driver’s section features an announcement system, while the interior is equipped with seven CCTV cameras to enhance security. Passengers can benefit from ample luggage space, a panic button facility for emergencies, foot lamps, and reading lights near each seat. Moreover, the buses are equipped with powerful air conditioning, TV screens for entertainment, and electric light boards displaying information about stops.
The addition of these new electric Shivai buses to the MSRTC fleet represents a positive step towards reducing carbon emissions and promoting sustainable public transportation options.
