The launch ceremony was held at the Sahyadri Guest House in Mumbai’s Malabar Hill. The e-Shivneri bus service is an initiative by the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC), which aims to provide clean and environment-friendly travel options to the people of Maharashtra.
According to the MSRTC General Manager, Shivaji Jagtap, two Shivneri buses made their initial trips from both cities on the launch day. The travel time between the two cities is 3 hours and 40 minutes, which varies depending on traffic conditions. Commuters can buy one-way tickets for Rs 520, which matches the fare charged for diesel-run Shivneri buses. Initially, tickets for electric buses can be purchased from the respective depots in both cities. However, soon, commuters can book bus tickets online as well.
The e-Shivneri buses have a passenger seating capacity of 43, excluding seats for the driver and co-driver. The manufacturer, Olectra Greentech Limited, has claimed that the buses can travel up to 250 kilometers on a single charge. MSRTC received a total of eight e-buses, among which six are yet to get clearance from the regional transport office (RTO). These buses feature comfortable push-back seats designed for long-distance travel, a modern infotainment system with a TV and Wi-Fi facility, and USB chargers for every seat. Additionally, each vehicle has a luggage capacity of five cubic meters for passengers.
Also, actor Makarand Anaspure has been appointed as the ‘goodwill ambassador’ for MSRTC. This announcement comes as a part of the state government’s efforts to enhance the public transport system and attract more people to use public transport.
AbhiBus is excited to provide its passengers with this new travel option, which is not only eco-friendly but also provides a comfortable and enjoyable travel experience. We encourage our passengers to opt for this service and support the state government’s efforts towards a sustainable future.
