Here are the key Highlights for Pilot Mazi Bus Scheme
Three Route Operation:
- Canacona to Margao
- Curchorem-Quepem-Margao
- Curchorem-Ponda-Panaji
Private Buses and Pilot Period:
- KTCL has hired private buses for the three routes.
- The pilot scheme will run for 6 months from June 15 to December 31, 2023.
- A total of 41 buses will operate on the Canacona to Margao route, 102 buses on the Curchorem-Quepem-Margao route, and 144 buses on the Curchorem-Ponda-Panaji route.
Last Mile Connectivity:
- The buses under the Mazi Bus scheme will provide last-mile connectivity, especially during late-night and early-morning trips.
- This initiative aims to ensure improved access to remote villages and enhance transportation services for the residents.
Ticketing and Bus Tracking App:
- KTCL is developing a real-time bus ticketing and tracking app.
- Commuters will have access to real-time bus schedules and the convenience of QR code-based ticket booking.
- Vehicle Location Tracking Device (VLTD) devices have already been installed on 51 electric buses and 459 other KTCL buses.
- The mobile application, which is currently being designed, is expected to be available to the public by mid-July 2023.
Taxis for Government Departments:
- In addition to the Mazi Bus scheme, KTCL has also launched a scheme to hire taxis for government departments on a monthly basis for a five-year period.
- This initiative aims to provide reliable and convenient transportation options for various government departments.
