The Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) is set to bolster interstate connectivity by launching 41 new bus services between Kerala and Tamil Nadu. This strategic move aims to provide more convenient travel options for commuters across these two southern states.
KSRTC New Kerala – TN Interstate Buses Key Highlights
- Volvo Low-Floor Buses: KSRTC plans to deploy its modern Volvo low-floor buses for these interstate services, ensuring a comfortable and efficient journey.
- Routes and Contract Agreement: The services will operate on routes specified in the contract signed between Kerala and Tamil Nadu in 2019. As per the agreement, both states have the authority to run an equal number of buses for inter-state travel.
- Destination Regions: The new services will connect various regions in Tamil Nadu, including Coimbatore, Tenkasi, Theni, Cumbum, Udumalaipettai, and Pollachi.
- Prompt Initiation: Officials, including chief traffic officers, have received instructions to initiate these services promptly, enhancing connectivity between the two states.
KSRTC Interstate Buses Specific Services
- Thrissur-Coimbatore AC Bus: An AC low-floor bus will operate on the Thrissur-Coimbatore route for added comfort.
- Additional AC Buses: Two extra AC low-floor buses will commence operations from the Ernakulam depot, providing more options for travelers.
- Superfast Buses: Two superfast buses will run services to Coimbatore via Kozhinjampara, connecting Thrissur and Guruvayur depots.
- Fast Passenger Services: 38 fast passenger buses from various depots will cater to interstate travel demands.
- New Routes: Two new services will connect Chengannur-Tenkasi (via Sengottai), and two more will operate between Ernakulam and Coimbatore.
- Extended Services: Three additional services will soon connect Theni and Kambam, with an extra service to Udumalpet.
KSRTC’s expansion of interstate services reflects a commitment to improving connectivity and easing travel for passengers between Kerala and Tamil Nadu.
