The Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) has announced the resumption of its bus service between Kullu and Kaza via Kunzum Pass in Spiti. After a pause of over seven months, the bus service was flagged off from Kullu, marking a significant step towards restoring connectivity in the region.
Disruption Due to Snowfall
The bus service between Kullu and Kaza was suspended on October 15 last year due to heavy snowfall at Kunzum Pass. The pass experiences severe snow accumulation during the winter months, making it impassable and cutting off Spiti from Lahaul and Kullu. The Border Roads Organisation (BRO) works tirelessly to restore the road for traffic, typically by May or June.
Few Words from the Regional Manager
Radha Devi, the Regional Manager of the HRTC’s Keylong depot in Lahaul and Spiti district, expressed her satisfaction with the resumption of the bus service. She mentioned that tourists visiting Spiti, a renowned destination for nature lovers and trekkers, will find it easier to explore the region with the availability of reliable transportation.
Kullu-Kaza HRTC Bus Fare and Schedule Details
According to the Regional Manager, the bus will depart from Kullu to Kaza at 4:30 am, and the return journey from Kaza to Kullu will commence at 5 am. The distance covered during the 224-km-long journey will cost passengers Rs 497 per person. This affordable fare allows travelers to enjoy the picturesque landscapes and cultural treasures of Spiti without breaking the bank.
The resumption of the Kullu-Kaza HRTC bus service not only benefits tourists but also contributes to the overall development of the region by fostering connectivity and promoting tourism. Travelers are advised to check the HRTC website or visit their nearest HRTC office for more information on schedules and bookings.
