The Himachal Pradesh Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) has resumed its Chamba to Doda HRTC bus service, which was curtailed following a terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir.
Background and Suspension
- Launch and Suspension: The bus service, launched on July 2, was suspended on July 15 after a terror attack in Doda.
- Temporary Route Change: For 10 days, the bus operated only from Chamba to Langera, a village on the Himachal-J&K border.
Resumption of Service
- Stabilization and Resumption: With the situation stabilizing, the service has now been fully resumed till Doda.
- HRTC Statement: HRTC Regional Manager, Chamba, Shugal Singh, confirmed the resumption.
Bus Service Details
- Fare: The one-way fare from Chamba to Doda is Rs 326 per person.
- Schedule:
- Departure from Chamba: Daily at 6:30 am, reaching Doda at 4:25 pm.
- Return Journey: Departs from Doda at 9:30 am, reaching Chamba by 6:30 pm after an overnight halt.
Importance of the Service
- Facilitating Devotees: The bus service primarily benefits Lord Shiva devotees in Bhaderwah, who otherwise had to walk to Manimahesh for the annual yatra in August.
The resumption of the Chamba-Doda bus service is a significant step in restoring normalcy and providing essential transport connectivity for residents and devotees in the region.
