Expansion Plans and Phased Transition
The HRTC has issued a tender for 75 Type-I e-buses to be deployed in Shimla Local and Nadaun, while technical specifications for 225 Type-II e-buses to replace existing diesel buses have been finalized. The government plans to gradually replace the entire fleet of 1,500 HRTC buses with e-buses. Simultaneously, infrastructure development is underway to support the growing number of electric vehicles on the roads.
Green Energy State Vision
CM Sukhu outlined the government’s vision to transform Himachal Pradesh into a “Green Energy State” by March 31, 2026. In line with this goal, the state’s budget includes provisions and initiatives to promote renewable energy and sustainable practices.
