The corporation will operate 12 electric buses on this route, with buses running in both directions from 4.30 am to 7.30 pm. The frequency of the buses will be approximately one bus per hour. Adult passengers will be charged Rs 340, while children will be charged Rs 260. The electric bus service was inaugurated by RTC chairman Mallikarjuna Reddy, who flagged off the first bus to Kadapa from the RTC bus stand in the presence of senior officials, including Kadapa zone executive director K Gopinadha Reddy, Tirupati district public transport officer T Chengal Reddy, Kadapa district transport officer Gopal Reddy, deputy chief traffic manager, Tirupati Bhaskar, and others.
In the past, the corporation has allocated 100 electric buses to the Tirupati Alipiri depot. The first electric bus service between Tirupati and Tirumala was introduced by the corporation. In September 2022, Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy inaugurated the Tirupati-Tirumala electric buses, following which the RTC has been operating 50 buses on the ghat roads since October 1st. According to Mallikarjuna, after the successful launch of the Tirupati-Tirumala electric bus service, 14 electric buses were introduced in the Tirumala-Renigunta-Airport route. Additionally, the corporation plans to introduce 12 electric buses each in the Tirupati to Nellore and Tirupati to Madanapalle routes soon.
The RTC is committed to deploying more and more electric buses in the state to reduce emission levels and protect the environment. This new electric bus service is a significant step towards achieving that goal.
