In a significant move towards promoting sustainable transportation, Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) has inaugurated electric AC bus services between Nellore and Tirupati. The chairman of APSRTC, Mallikarjuna Reddy, officially launched the service, bringing forth a new era of environmentally friendly commuting for the residents of the Tirupati and Nellore districts. The electric bus service will witness the operation of 12 electric buses along this route, with six buses departing from each city at scheduled times. This latest addition complements the existing fleet of 50 Olectra Greentech buses already running between Tirupati and Tirumala, enhancing the region’s commitment to sustainable public transportation.
Just a few days ago, APSRTC introduced electric AC bus services between Tirupati and Kadapa, further expanding the coverage of eco-friendly transportation options in the state.
These e-buses deployed on the Nellore-Tirupati route have a seating capacity of up to 35 passengers, including the driver. Impressively, these electric vehicles can travel up to 200 kilometers on a single charge, ensuring a smooth and uninterrupted journey for commuters.
During the inauguration ceremony, Chairman Mallikarjuna Reddy highlighted the importance of electric buses in reducing carbon emissions and announced plans to introduce them in more cities. He highlighted the success of APSRTC’s existing electric bus services between Tirupati-Tirumala and Tirupati-Kadapa, further fueling the corporation’s commitment to sustainable mobility.
The event witnessed the presence of Battula Supraja, the APSRTC zonal chairman, officials from the public transport department, and representatives from Olectra Greentech, the leading provider of electric buses. With the launch of electric AC buses between Nellore and Tirupati, APSRTC reinforces its dedication to eco-friendly transportation solutions, setting a commendable example for other regions to follow. The introduction of these electric buses not only enhances the convenience and comfort of passengers but also contributes to the collective efforts in building a greener future.
