In a significant step towards eco-friendly transportation, the Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) has commenced its AC electric bus service connecting Madanapalle in Annamayya district to the revered pilgrimage city of Tirupati. This initiative reflects APSRTC’s commitment to reducing pollution and promoting sustainable travel options for commuters.
Eco-Friendly Commuting for Pilgrims and Travelers
The newly launched AC electric bus service aims to provide a seamless and eco-friendly commuting experience for both pilgrims and regular travelers. With a fleet of 12 electric buses plying between Tirupati and Madanapalle, passengers can now enjoy a comfortable and environmentally-conscious journey.
Inauguration by APSRTC Chairman and MLA
The AC electric bus service was inaugurated at the Madanapalle bus station by APSRTC Chairman Mallikarjuna Reddy, accompanied by MLA Navaz Basha. The dignitaries flagged off the electric bus, signaling the beginning of this revolutionary mode of transportation.
Electric Bus Services Milestones
- The electric AC bus service was initially launched between Tirupati and Tirumala, catering to the transportation needs of pilgrims. This was inaugurated by Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy in October last year.
- Subsequently, APSRTC provided 50 electric buses for operating on the challenging Tirumala Ghat road, ensuring safe and eco-friendly transportation for devotees.
- In a bid to expand eco-friendly commuting options, electric bus services were introduced between Tirumala and Airport via Tirupati with 14 buses, followed by services between Tirupati and Kadapa in May this year, and Tirupati-Nellore in June this year, each with 12 buses.
More Electric Buses in the Pipeline
APSRTC remains committed to its vision of increasing the adoption of electric buses for eco-friendly commuting across districts. The successful implementation of these initiatives has encouraged the corporation to explore the induction of additional electric buses in the future.
Convenience and Fare Details
The AC electric bus service between Tirupati and Madanapalle will operate 12 buses, offering travelers a convenient and sustainable travel option. The fare for each ticket is Rs 300.
