The Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC) has enhanced its Madurai fleet with the addition of 39 new and refurbished TNSTC buses. This significant upgrade aims to improve public transportation in the region.

- Previous Allocations: In the fiscal years 2022-23 and 2024-25, 388 buses have been allocated for the Madurai division, with 157 already in service.
- Statewide Expansion: Tamil Nadu received 2,000 new buses in 2022-23, with an additional 3,000 planned for 2024-25.

- Contribution: German funding has supported the allocation of 2,666 buses across Tamil Nadu, including 695 for Madurai.
- Total: 473 buses funded by German aid are specifically designated for Madurai, increasing the total number of new buses to 1,168.

- Awards: Silver coins were distributed to 10 TNSTC drivers from the Madurai division for their exemplary accident-free service.
