The Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) is set for a major upgrade with the construction of 12 new bus terminals and the addition of 5,000 electric buses, enhancing transportation infrastructure and sustainability.

In a bid to modernize and enhance public transportation, the Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) has announced a comprehensive action plan that includes the construction of 12 new bus terminals and the addition of 5,000 electric buses to its fleet. This initiative is part of a larger effort spearheaded by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to improve transportation infrastructure and sustainability in the state.

New Bus Terminals and Renovations

UPSRTC is set to construct new bus terminals and renovate existing ones in several key cities, including:

  • Agra
  • Gorakhpur
  • Mirzapur
  • Bulandshahr
  • Garhmukteshwar
  • Mathura
  • Kanpur Central
  • Varanasi Cantt

These new and renovated terminals aim to provide modern facilities for travelers, transforming these spaces into commercial hubs. This approach is expected to create a revenue generation model that will enhance both the traveler experience and UPSRTC’s income.

Addition of Electric Buses

In a significant move towards sustainable transportation, UPSRTC will add 5,000 electric buses to its fleet. These buses will be equipped with panic button systems to enhance passenger safety. The acquisition process, which was temporarily halted due to the Lok Sabha elections, will resume with the tender process restarting on June 14. The new electric buses are expected to join the fleet within the next six months.

Expansion Plans

UPSRTC has ambitious plans to expand its current fleet from 12,300 buses to 50,000 in the coming years. This expansion aims to provide better and more extensive public transportation options across Uttar Pradesh.

Additional Initiatives

UPSRTC is also implementing several other initiatives to improve its services and infrastructure:

  • Automated Fuel Management System: In collaboration with Indian Oil, UPSRTC has adopted a sensor-based Automated Fuel Management System to prevent fuel pilferage.
  • Technological Advancements: The Uttar Pradesh government is exploring advanced technological capabilities to enhance citizen-centric services in state transport.
  • Service Quality and Safety: Measures are being taken to improve the service quality and safety of UPSRTC buses to attract more passengers.

These initiatives reflect UPSRTC’s commitment to providing efficient, safe, and modern transportation services to the public. For more detailed information, you can visit the official UPSRTC website.
